Tatreez

Privacy Policy

Effective 10 October 2026 · Last updated 11 October 2026

This policy explains how Min Amanne ("Tatreez," "we," "us") handles information when you use the Tatreez website, the web studio, and the Tatreez apps for iPhone, iPad, and Mac (the "Service"). Those products share one account. If you do not agree with this policy, do not use the Service.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Information you give us

Account. You can create an account with an email address and a password, or with Google. The iPhone, iPad, and Mac apps also offer Sign in with Apple. Supabase stores the email address and, for email sign-in, the password. We store the email address in our own database. Sign in with Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real email, and that is the address we store. We do not see or store your Google or Apple password.

Agreement to the Terms. When you agree to the Terms of Service, we record which version you agreed to and when: on your account if you are signed in, and in your browser or on your device if you are not.

Supabase emails you to confirm an email sign-up and to reset a password.

You can also add a username, first and last name, display name, bio, profile photo, and social links.

Designs you save while signed in. The design is stored on our servers. That file includes the chart, colors, stitch progress, notes, stitch sessions, progress photos, and a trace image, if you added one. We also store the title, size, stitch counts, how much is finished, a thumbnail, and the platform and device name sent with the save.

A design you start before you sign in stays in that browser until you sign in. It is uploaded then.

Pro accounts also get version history. Those older copies leave out progress photos and the trace image.

Community. If you publish a pattern, comment, follow someone, or fill in a public profile, that information is visible to other people. This includes the pattern, its title and description, your username, display name, bio, avatar, and the comments you post.

Discussions. If you start a thread or reply in Discuss, we store what you write, the space you post in, the photos and published designs you attach, your votes, the threads you follow, and any reports you make. Threads and replies are public, with your username and avatar. A progress update can be linked to one of your saved projects, in which case it shows that project's title, thumbnail, and how far along it is. If you mention someone with @username, they are told.

Photos. Photos you attach to a thread or reply are resized and saved as a new image before they leave your device, which removes the camera's location and device details. Our server makes a fresh copy again and has it checked by Sightengine before anyone else can see it. Photos that fail the check are deleted.

Chat. If you use chat, the messages you send, the photos and designs you attach, and which conversations and rooms you are in are stored by Stream, which runs chat for us. Direct messages and group chats are visible only to the people in them; topic rooms and design chats are visible to any signed-in member. Chat is not end-to-end encrypted: we can see messages that are reported or flagged, and we may review them to enforce our terms. If you search for a GIF with /giphy, the words you type go through Stream to GIPHY to find it, without your name or account. GIFs are chosen by GIPHY, not by us; report one that breaks the guidelines like any other message.

Stitching circles. Circles are live group video calls for Pro members. If you schedule one, we store its title, description, time, and length. If you RSVP, we store that you are going, and we send you a reminder notification 15 minutes before it starts if you allow notifications. Your profile photo and name are shown to others as going. While a circle runs, Stream carries the audio and video between the people in it. You join with your camera and microphone off, and the app or browser asks for permission the first time you turn either on. Circles are not recorded or transcribed, by us or by Stream. We store how many people were in a circle and for how many minutes in total, to keep track of what circles cost us, and Stream tells us when people join and leave. The circle's chat works like the rest of chat, above, and is visible only to the people who joined. A host or one of our administrators can remove someone from a circle, and we keep that they were removed.

Waitlist. If you ask to be notified at launch, we store your email address and, if you type one, your first name. We email you a confirmation. We do not add you to the launch list until you confirm.

Payments. On the web, subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We do not receive your full card number. We store a Stripe customer id, whether Pro is active, when it ends, and whether that access came from Stripe, Apple, or a manual grant. In the apps, subscriptions are processed by Apple. RevenueCat receives the subscription status so a purchase on one platform can unlock Pro on the others. We do not receive your card number from Apple either.

Support. If you email us, we receive whatever you send in that message.

1.2 Information collected as the Service runs

Our hosting providers process connection data, including IP address, as part of delivering the website and the API.

If you allow notifications on the iPhone app, we store the push token for that device. If you turn on browser notifications on the Account page, we store the address your browser's push service gives us for that browser, the keys that encrypt notifications to it, and the browser's name and version. We also store which kinds of notification you want (replies and mentions, chat messages, new designs).

While you are signed in, we record on your account when you last used the Service, on which platform (iPhone, iPad, Mac, or the web), and which version of the app. We do not keep the device name for this.

When you buy, renew, cancel, or are refunded Pro, Stripe and RevenueCat tell us. We keep a record of each of these events on your account: the plan, the store, the amount, and the date. We do not keep your card details, billing name, or address.

We do not use advertising trackers. We do not sell personal information.

Usage analytics (Mixpanel). Using the Service requires agreeing to the Terms of Service, which include usage analytics. Nothing is sent before you agree. After that, analytics is on unless you turn it off, which you can do at any time on the website's Account page or under About in the apps, without losing access to anything. While it is on, Mixpanel receives:

  • When you open the website or the app, which pages of the website and which sections of the app you open
  • When you create or open a design, where it came from (for example a blank grid, a photo, or the motif archive), its grid size, and how far along it is
  • When you export a design, the format (for example PDF or .oxs), and when you add a motif, which collection it came from and its size
  • When you start and finish a stitching session, how long it lasted, how many stitches you marked, how far along the design was, and when a design reaches 100%
  • When an upgrade screen is shown and which feature prompted it, when you start checkout, the plan you choose (monthly, annual, or lifetime), and whether the purchase completed, was cancelled, failed, or was restored
  • When you publish a pattern (its category, grid size, and number of colors), and when you like, save, download, or comment on a pattern or follow a designer. We do not send the text of your comments or which pattern or person it was.
  • When you start a thread (which space, what kind, and how many photos and designs it has), reply (how many photos and designs, and whether it answers another reply), or vote (up, down, or taking a vote back), and when you share progress (how many photos and how far along the project is) or share a design (to a thread, a chat, or as a link). We do not send what you wrote or which thread it was.
  • When you open a chat and send a message, which kind of chat it is (direct, group, topic room, design chat, or circle chat) and whether the message has an attachment. We do not send messages or who they were to.
  • When you schedule a stitching circle (its length), RSVP to one, join one (and whether you are the host), and leave one (how many minutes you were in it). We do not send which circle it was or who else was there.
  • When you join the launch waitlist or follow a link to the App Store
  • When an account was created, when you sign in, how you signed up or signed in (email, Google, or Apple), and whether it has Pro
  • A random account ID that links these events together. We do not send your name, your email address, or your designs.
  • Your browser or device type, operating system, app version, and an approximate location (country and city) that Mixpanel works out from your IP address

We use this to see which features are used and where people get stuck. We do not use it for advertising, we do not record sessions, and we do not combine it with data from other companies.

2. How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • Run your account and keep you signed in
  • Save your designs and sync them across the web studio and the apps
  • Show community posts, comments, discussions, and profiles to other people, deliver chat messages, and run stitching circles
  • Take payment through Stripe on the web and through Apple in the apps, and keep Pro status in sync
  • Send the waitlist confirmation and, after you confirm, the launch message
  • Check community posts, comments, discussions, photos, and profile links for policy violations, and review chat messages that are reported or flagged
  • Send the push notifications you have allowed, on iPhone and in your browser
  • Respond if you contact us
  • Protect the Service and enforce our terms

3. Who else receives information

Each provider below gets only what it needs for the job listed.

ProviderRole
VercelHosts the website
RailwayHosts the API, the database, the job queue, and the files (designs, thumbnails, avatars)
SupabaseAccounts, passwords, and account emails
GoogleSign in with Google, if you use it
AppleSign in with Apple, App Store purchases, iPhone push notifications, and browser notifications in Safari
StripeWeb subscription checkout and the billing portal
RevenueCatSubscription status, so Pro unlocks across the website and the apps
ResendWaitlist confirmation and launch emails
StreamRuns chat and stitching circles: stores and delivers chat messages and attachments, and carries live circle audio and video without recording it, with your account ID, username, display name, and avatar
GIPHYFinds GIFs for /giphy in chat. It receives the search words, through Stream, and serves the GIFs you see
Google, Mozilla, MicrosoftDeliver browser notifications for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, if you turn them on. They receive the notification, encrypted, and the address of your browser.
SightengineScans the thumbnail of a pattern you publish and photos you attach to discussions
OpenAIScans text you publish: pattern title and description, comments, threads and replies, and social links
MixpanelUsage analytics, unless you turn it off (see Section 1.2)

Private designs are not sent to Sightengine or OpenAI. Those checks run on what you publish: community posts, comments, discussions, photos, and profile links.

People who use the community can see what you choose to publish, including your username and public profile.

What you publish is also on the open web. Published patterns, public profiles, discussion threads and replies, and scheduled stitching circles are public pages, so search engines such as Google and Bing, and AI search tools, can find them, list them and show their pictures. Private designs, chats and your account pages are not shown to search engines. When you remove something you published, it leaves our pages within about an hour, though a search engine may take a while to drop its copy.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or of Min Amanne.

4. How long we keep it

We keep account information and saved designs while the account exists.

Removing a design from your library hides it. The stored copy is kept so it can be restored. It is erased when you delete the account. We do not run a separate timed purge of removed designs.

Deleting the account is immediate and permanent. It removes the sign-in, the profile, saved designs and their files, version history, published patterns, comments, threads, replies, votes, photos, followed threads, circles you host and your RSVPs, reports you made, browser notification subscriptions, purchase history, and the Stripe and RevenueCat customer records for that account. We also ask Stream to delete your chat account and the messages you sent. We also ask Mixpanel to delete the account's analytics, which Mixpanel completes within 30 days. You can do this in the iPhone, iPad, and Mac apps. The website does not currently have its own delete control. An App Store subscription has to be cancelled with Apple. Deleting the account does not cancel it.

Deleting one of your replies that others have answered leaves an empty "deleted" placeholder so the answers still make sense. Its text and photos are removed.

If one of our administrators changes an account (for example grants Pro, suspends it, or deletes it), we keep a record of what was done, when, by whom, and why, with the account's username or email. This record is kept after the account is deleted, for security and to meet legal obligations.

The waitlist row is kept so we know whether you confirmed and so Resend can send the launch message.

We have not set a separate retention period for hosting logs or backups.

5. Your choices

Email support@minamanne.com to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it. You can also delete the account yourself in the apps, as described above.

You can export a design from the studio and the apps. That export is the design file or chart, not a full copy of every account record.

You can leave the waitlist through the unsubscribe link Resend includes on those emails.

You can turn off iPhone notifications in iOS settings. You can turn browser notifications off on the Account page, or in your browser's site settings. Signing out of the website also turns them off for that browser. On the website's Account page, or in Settings in the iPhone and iPad app, you can choose which kinds of notification you get.

California residents. You can ask what personal information we collect, ask us to delete or correct it, and you will not be treated differently for asking. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

EU, EEA, and UK residents. You can ask for access, correction, deletion, and a portable copy of your personal information, and you can object to or restrict certain processing. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

We process information on these bases:

  • To provide the account, save designs, and run the community (the contract with you)
  • To secure the Service, moderate what is published, and understand how to fix it (legitimate interests)
  • To send the launch email after you confirm the waitlist (consent)
  • To understand how the Service is used through Mixpanel analytics, which you can turn off at any time (legitimate interests)
  • To keep payment and tax records the law requires (legal obligation)

The providers in Section 3 may process information outside your country. This policy does not name a storage country or a transfer contract. Ask us if you need that detail for a specific provider.

6. Cookies and local storage

The website keeps your sign-in session in the browser's local storage. The Service uses that storage to stay signed in. A design you have not uploaded yet is also kept in the browser.

If you turn on browser notifications, the website installs a small service worker in your browser. It only shows notifications and opens the page you tap; it does not store or cache anything else.

The website also keeps in local storage the version of the Terms you agreed to and whether you turned analytics off. While analytics is on, Mixpanel keeps a random ID and its settings in local storage so your visits link together. If you turn it off, it stores only the fact that tracking is off. We do not use advertising cookies.

Google and Stripe use their own sites when you sign in with Google or pay with Stripe, and those sites set their own cookies.

7. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email support@minamanne.com.

8. Security

We use HTTPS and limit access to the systems that store your information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

9. Changes

If we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this policy.
